The Foreign-Trade Zones Board of the U.S. Department of Commerce oversees the foreign-trade zone program and appoints grantees of the various zones throughout the country. Applications are submitted to the FTZ Board by the grantee for foreign-trade zone status.
Northeast Ohio has two foreign-trade zones, FTZ 40 and FTZ 181. The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority has the grant of authority for FTZ 40. NEOTEC has the grant of authority for FTZ 181, and serves as administrator of both zones.
