Located in the northeast corner of the state, bordering Pennsylvania and the enchanting coastline of Lake Erie, Ashtabula is the largest in size among Ohio’s 88 counties.

Ashtabula County is ideally positioned to deliver endless opportunities to all business sectors, including agri-business, manufacturing, service, recreation, retail and tourism.  Like any area that hugs a body of water, Ashtabula County has traditionally delivered a portion of its livelihood and appeal from Lake Erie.  The lake attracts residents and tourists, affects zoning and development and even influences the weather patterns that make the region ideal for growing certain crops such as wine grapes.

By highway, rail, air and water, Ashtabula County’s transportation system is well suited for any type of business. Its strategic location is within a 50-mile radius of some of the most important industrial and metropolitan centers in the country.  Ashtabula County is situated on the raw materials routes for its products: both CSX and Norfolk Southern railroads service the area, and the county has two deep-water ports — Ashtabula’s Kinder Morgan Pinney Dock, which is the largest private dock on the Great Lakes, and Pittsburgh and Conneaut Dock in Conneaut.
