KENT, OHIO, March 24, 2005 – Team Ohio,
the sales and marketing arm of the new Ohio Economic
Development Association (OEDA), has elected Ron DeBarr to
serve as Chairman of its six-member Executive Committee.
DeBarr is President & CEO of the Northeast Ohio Trade and
Economic Consortium (NEOTEC), a regional economic development
partnership of nine Northeast Ohio counties.
The newly formed Executive Committee will help direct the
efforts of Team Ohio, comprised of approximately 40 public and
private sector organizations throughout the state, as it works
to promote Ohio through targeted marketing programs.
“This is a unique and exciting opportunity for Ohio and I’m
pleased to serve in this capacity,” said DeBarr. “Team Ohio is
mobilizing a diverse group of local and regional economic
development professionals, tapping their expertise and
resources in a cohesive effort to brand and market the State
of Ohio.” DeBarr said this statewide effort will enhance
Ohio’s ability to compete on a global scale.
Other members of the Executive Committee include David Powell
of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, vice chair; Mike
Schaltz of Fifth Third Bank, vice president of
Finance/Funding; Karen Craddock of Cinergy Corporation, vice
president of marketing/public relations; Marcel Wagner of
Allen County Economic Development Group, vice president of
membership; and Bob Bowman of the City of Akron, vice
president of programs.
NEOTEC is a private, nonprofit organization providing economic
development services on behalf of its member counties,
including Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning, Medina, Portage,
Stark, Summit, Trumbull and Wayne. NEOTEC administers three
organizations to implement economic development strategies for
the Northeast Ohio region: Foreign-Trade Zone 181 to promote
international commerce, the International Trade Assistance
Center (ITAC) to provide export counseling assistance to area
businesses, and the Northeast Ohio Logistics Network to help
improve regional market access.
