NEOTEC Hosts Foreign-Trade Zone Workshop

KENT, OHIO, October 1, 2003 – The Northeast Ohio Trade and Economic Consortium (NEOTEC), administrator of Foreign-Trade Zone 181, is hosting its annual Foreign-Trade Zone Workshop on Thursday, November 20, 2003, at the Kent State University Student Center.  Presented in cooperation with the Council of Logistics Management and the Northeast Ohio Logistics Network, the event will provide basics of the Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) program as well as an in-depth analysis of the program’s benefits.

“This is a ‘don’t miss’ event for companies that are currently engaged in FTZ operations, for prospective users, and for business and community leaders who want an understanding of the FTZ program,” said Ron DeBarr, President & CEO of NEOTEC.   DeBarr explained that the Foreign-Trade Zone Program can help reduce costs to level the playing field for companies doing business globally.

The workshop includes a morning conference program with an afternoon panel discussion and Q&A with several experts from the FTZ field.  Included on the agenda are Brandi Hanback, Managing Director of Rockefeller Group Foreign Trade Zone Services, who will discuss how companies can market their FTZ advantage; and Randy Campbell, President & CEO of the National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones (NAFTZ), whose presentation will focus on regulatory issues and the role of NAFTZ.  Clinton Littlefield, Assistant Director of the Cleveland Port of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, formerly the U.S. Customs Service, will discuss the post-9/11 environment that necessitated a redirection of the agency with a focus on security.  Philip Ewing, vice president of marketing for EZ-FTZ, will discuss Automated Inventory Control and Reporting; and Chris Burnham, president of the Summit County Port Authority, will provide an FTZ overview and discuss the status of FTZ 181.

Cost for the workshop is $85 and includes continental breakfast, lunch and workshop materials.  Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Governance Chambers of the Kent State University Student Center.  To register for the event and for more information call 800-793-0912, or  REGISTER HERE (pdf)
